Rick Stansbury is a college basketball coach who is currently the head coach of the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. He was born on December 23, 1959, in Battletown, Kentucky.
Stansbury has had a successful coaching career, starting as an assistant at Austin Peay in the early 1980s before moving on to Mississippi State, where he served as an assistant coach for 11 years. In 1998, he was promoted to head coach of the Bulldogs and led them to six NCAA Tournament appearances during his tenure.
In 2012, Stansbury left Mississippi State and took a break from coaching before returning to the game as an assistant coach at Texas A&M. In 2016, he was hired as the head coach of Western Kentucky, where he has continued to have success, leading the Hilltoppers to multiple conference championships and NCAA Tournament appearances.
Stansbury is known for his recruiting prowess and ability to develop talent, as well as his strong defensive coaching. He has a reputation as a players' coach and has earned the respect of his peers in the coaching community.
